Dr. Cesare Iani, born on 17.11.1954, resident in Rome, obtained his scientific high school diploma in 1973.
In the same year he undertook his studies of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome, graduating with in 1979 with the highest grades, presenting a thesis concerning the problem of lateralization of electroencephalographic alterations. Speaker Prof. Mario Manfredi.
In 1979 he was admitted to the 1st School of Specialization in Neurology of the same University where he obtained the Specialization degree with the highest grades in 1984, discussing a thesis concerning the prognosis of feverish seizures.
In the period April-September 1979 he carried out the postgraduate enabling internship in Internal Medicine at the S.Camillo hospital in Rome reporting the judgment: excellent.
In November 84 he obtained the Specialization in Neurology
In the Academic Year 1986-87 he won the Public Competition for PhD in "Organization and Pathology of movement", at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", earning the Title of Doctor of Research on 1.6.91.
In 1994 he won a CNR scholarship for a three-month master's course at Uppsala University (Sweden) where he learned the new recording and management techniques in the electromyographic field and in particular the reording technique electromyographic of Single Fiber for the diagnosis of mystenia. He also deepened his knowledge of internet management of EMG and EEG laboratories in different cities, with the possibility of interpreting online data and also of therapeutic prescriptions in emergency situations "state of emergency epileptic" by remotely monitoring patients even in non-specialist wards.
In October 99 he was awarded the CNR Scholarship for Research at Foreign University: The November-December 99 research period was carried out at Uppsala University (Sweden) with the following theme: Update in new techniques clinical neurophysiology.
Qualifications and appointments
From 1979 to March 1991, he worked in the department of the V Neurological Clinic and in the Centre for the Treatment of Epilepsy of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", directed by Prof. Mario Manfredi. From 27.12.1989 to 15.3.1990 he won the public competition as a Full-Time Hospital Neurologist Assistant at the Neurological Clinic of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", "The NEUROLOGICAL Intensive Care Service STROKE UNIT". In March 1990 he was the winner of the Public Competition and hired as Assistant of Neurology in the Neurological Department of the Hospital S.Eugenio of Rome (ASL RMC), directed by Prof. G.Bernardi. (Tor Vergata Neurological Clinic)
Since 94 he has been wrking with IRCCS S. Lucia for the Rehabilitation of Patients suffering from Spasticity and dystonia, through treatment with Botulinica Toxin. The Lazio Region has recognized the Department directed by me as a Regional Reference Centre for Dystonia and for the treatment with botulinum toxin Since 17.01.1995 he has been in charge of the Special Service for the Diagnosis and Care of Miastenia (nothing of the authority of the Company Health Director Dr. Maura Moreschini) related to the neurological clinic that provides outpatient visits and assistance to patients in progress of myasthesiscrisis with the possibility of urgently carrying out plasmaferesis and resuscitation assistance. On June 1, 03 he was the winner of the Public Competition of Director of The Complex Operating Unit of Neurology of the Hospital S. Eugenio, Rome. The two-year MASTER for CEREBROVASCULAR Diseases of "La Sapienza University" was received in January 06. Directed by Prof Argentino, Director of the Stroke Unit. The Lazio Region has made the Master preparatory for the opening of new Stroke Units in the Region From May 09 to 2010 he is a member of the Neuromuscular Diseases Consultation of the Ministry of Health as a representative of the Lazio Region From June 09 to December 12 he was appointed as a member of the Ethics Committee of the ASL RMC Since July 2012 has accepted the request for convention of the University of Ferrara, Neurological Clinic, which makes the UOC Neurology as the venue of practical theoretical internship for the Master Biennial of Level II in epileptology.
From December 12 convention with Tor Vergata University to make UOC Neurology, location of practical theoretical internship for graduate students in neurophysiology, with assignment of teaching assignments at the same University. From January 2017 began collaboration with the chair of neurology of the Biomedical Campus (Prof. Vincenzo di Lazzaro) with a clinical and scientific collaboration report.

Electromyography, Evoked Potentials, Electroencephalography
Since 2009 the Lazio Region has been an experimental assignment for an ALS Patient management model. Numerous training courses were carried out to prepare medical and nursing staff for the management of the patient and care givers. Our UOC is followed by about 50 patients suffering from ALS with a hospital territory path that provides emergency management with dedicated bed in H24 at our UOC. About 15 admissions were made per year from 2013 to 14 for acute respiratory and nutritional events. Since February 2015, therapeutic management with acute stroke thrombolysis has been activated. A multidisciplinary protocol has been drawn up for the PDTA of the acute stroke patient accessing our hospital's emergency room.
Since February 2018 activation of the Stroke Unit equipped with 6 beds equipped with multi-parameter monitoring, located on the 9th floor of the New Wing of the Hospital. As of March 2019, 160 patients were subjected to systemic thrombolysis. In UOC Neurology are active specialist surgeries for Headache, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's M., Miastenia Gravis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
