Şükrü Okkesim
Biomedical Engineering at Fatih University in Istanbul-Turkey

General information
Şükrü Okkesim received the B.Sc. degree in electronics engineering and M.Sc. degrees and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2004, 2006 and 2011, respectively. During his PhD, He tried to evaluate the emotional feelings quantitatively using electrophysiological signals of patients who underwent coronary angiography operation.
After doctoral work, he joined Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Fatih University in Istanbul-Turkey, as a Lecturer and a Group Leader. This institute only focused on the research and development activities for medical purposes and so He had an opportunity to make several interdisciplinary projects till it closed because of the chaotic situation in Turkey.
Şükrü Okkesim, who is married and has two children, still continues his scientific studies at at Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), University of Freiburg. At the moment, He is analyzing multi-channel data from brain derivations and He is familiarizing himself with deep learning.
His main interests are Analysis and Classification of Electrophysiological Signals, Cognitive Science, Neural Computing and Applications, and Assessment and Management of Quality in the Hospitals.
